Long Island: The continental army was completely outnumbered by the British army which forced Washington to retreat. (1776) Trenton: Colonial morale had dropped to a critical low after the defeat around New York. Washington took 2400 men. There were five casualties from living conditions alone. Because they won this battle however, their morale was raised and they gained important supplies. (1776)
