Battle of Monmouth: After capturing Philadelphia, the British retreated to New York to get supplies from the Navy. The Americans met them at Monmouth and stopped them from continuing. After they were defeated, they slipped across the Hudson River to New York City. This was the last battle in the North. (1778)
Battle of Yorktown: General Cornwallis was getting settled in Yorktown. During this time, the French allies sent 5,000 troops by ships to America. General Washington had the French barricaded the Chesapeake Bay and his troops blocked the British by land. Cornwallis had no where to go so he was forced to surrender. This was the last major battle of the American Revolution. (1781)
